BIOGRAPHY - NANCY DENZLER

    Nancy is a painter and sculptor currently living in Tucson, Arizona. She works in all media. Her work is in private and permanent collections including the Grand Canyon Art Museum, the Zion National Park Art Museum, and in the Northwest Urgent Care Facility in Marana, Arizona. She is a signature member of the American Plains Artists and is listed in Who’s Who in American Art. Her work is represented by the Max Gallery in Tucson, Arizona.

    Nancy was born in Newport Arkansas. She earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. At the university she taught foundations and figure drawing. Nancy exhibited at the “Arts for the Parks Top 100” in Jackson Hole in 2006, and is currently in the traveling exhibition of “Paint the Parks Mini 50” in 2007 and 2008. Her work was in the “Grand! The Art and Wonder of Arizona’s Magnificent Canyon Exhibition” show in 2007 and the “Cowgirl Up” invitational art show in 2008 and 2009, at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, Wickenburg, Arizona. Nancy received the “Zion National Park Superintendant’s purchase award” at the “A Century of Sanctuary” art exhibit at the St. George Art Museum in St. George, Utah. Nancy is also in the 2008 “Paint America top 100”. Nancy received a grant from the Creative Artist Public Services Program in New York. Over the last three decades Nancy participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States, including solo shows in Massachusetts and New York.


ARTIST STATEMENT

I use the human figure, animals and landscapes for inspiration. I place a
strong emphasis on the abstract quality of each composition, using the dynamics
of light, attempting to reveal something more than just the image.
